The recent stormy weather has led to another sick seal pup being rescued on the island's coast.

The latest - the third pup found on Guernsey's shores this season - was found at Fort Doyle on Monday.

GSPCA staff said the young male grey seal was found dehydrated and emaciated, and was a third of the weight he should have been.

The pup - named Doyle - is being cared for at the GSPCA shelter, together with six other pups from around the islands.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Doyle is the seventh pup this season and the third local Guernsey pup.

"Doyle is so thin at only 15kgs (33lbs) and was very dehydrated when rescued.

"The team have got him safely to the Animal Shelter where he is now receiving fluids and around the clock care."

The GSPCA said unexpectedly caring for seals this season had been "a challenge", due to storm damage at the rescue centre.
