Sure landline issue blocking 999 calls in Guernsey fixed

Telecom company Sure has fixed a landline issue that affected calls to emergency services.
The problem was isolated to St Peter Port and St Sampsons. Mobile, broadband and fibre customers were not affected, the company said.
It was impacting the ability to dial 999 from a landline, customers were advised to use a mobile instead.
The company said the problem was caused by an electrical fault and apologised to customers.
Tracy Kirby, head of customer services said the issue lasted three-and-a-half hours and only affected copper fixed line services.
"Engineers were deployed immediately.
"We apologise for the inconvenience to anyone affected by this outage" she said.
Bailiwick Law Enforcement warned of a potential issue with emergency lifeline buttons installed in households.
Sure said that as a precaution residents should check on vulnerable people who may have been impacted and do not have a mobile.
