Guernsey Electricity said more roads would close as the completion of its first phase of works in the Forest makes way for the second.

The company began works to upgrade high voltage power cables in the Forest on 12 February.

Roads including Le Bourg and Le Chêne were scheduled to reopen on Saturday, it said.

The next stage of works would then begin.

Mike Lloyd, the company's head of distribution, said Le Chemin Le Roi was due to close from Monday until Friday.

He said Forest Road would then be closed from 16 March to 22 March.

He added: "This particular work is necessary in this area and our responsibility is not only to maintain the electricity network across the island but to invest in and future proof the area to avoid major roadworks in the future."

He said other utility companies would also be working in the area during this period "with the aim of preventing future closures".
