A reduced service will be operating in Guernsey's pharmacies over the Easter weekend

People in Guernsey with sufficient supplies of medicine are being asked to order the next prescription after Easter.

The States of Guernsey said a reduced number of pharmacies would be open over the long weekend.

Those who do not have sufficient supplies were asked to put their order in as soon as possible.

The States said this would help pharmacists prioritise "urgent and acute prescriptions" over Easter.

'Reduced staffing'

Chief pharmacist Teena Bhogal said: "Pharmacies and their staff continue to work extremely hard to provide essential services.

"This includes not just the supply of our medications; they are also a valuable source of health information and advice for our community.

"We know that some pharmacy contractors choose to open on public holidays ensuring islanders can access their services, but staffing will be reduced on these days and islanders can really help pharmacies to manage their workload by planning ahead."
