The States has issued guidance to islanders on how to dispose of the worms

A type of invasive worm which eats earthworms has been found on Alderney.

The Australian flatworm was a non-native species which could have a negative impact on soil health, the States of Alderney said.

All sightings have been found in one area of the island.

The States said it had issued a guide in collaboration with the Alderney Wildlife Trust which explained how to trap, identify and dispose of the flatworms.
