Guernsey residents are able to take their garden waste to the new drop-off site at Mont Cuet

Guernsey's new household garden waste drop-off site has officially opened.

The States said the site at Mont Cuet had opened following the closure of the old facility at Chouet on Tuesday.

It said the site was relocated to allow construction material firm Ronez to begin quarrying at Chouet headland.

The States said the site would initially be open from 10:00-18:00 BST on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 10:00-16:00 on weekends and bank holidays.

It added it was seeking planning permission to extend the hours at weekends and bank holidays.
