Guernsey Museums hosting event highlighting local women's history

A two-day event about local women's history is set to be hosted at Guernsey Museums.
Herstory Fest, which takes place on 13 and 14 April, was offering visitors a chance to discover various aspects of local women's history, organisers said.
The States of Guernsey said the event, in Guernsey Museum at Candie, included the history from the lives of nurses in World War One.
It also included movies featuring local women at Frossard Theatre, it added.
'Activities to enjoy'
The Guernsey History in Action Company had created stories of notable Guernsey women through live performances which visitors could watch, organisers said.
The museum said its Time Warp would be temporarily closed to allow the Discovery Room to be used to host drop-in workshops with artist Olympia McEwan.
It added there would be "lots of special activities available", including handling objects from the museum's collection to tailor-made trails and activities to enjoy.
Miffy Lane, access and learning manager, said: "We are particularly excited to be focusing on our local women's history.
"With the Notable Women of Guernsey foyer display and Guernsey Arts presenting Linda Martorella's exhibition Entanglement, Candie is the perfect backdrop for such an exploration and celebration of local women's lives, achievements, experiences, minds, spirit and form."
The Notable Women of Guernsey highlighted the lives and achievements of over 30 "remarkable women", said the States of Guernsey.
The museum opens from 10:00 BST to 17:00.
