Father Christmases needed for Isle of Man Santa Dash

More than 130 people dressed like Father Christmas for last year's Santa Dash

Lifeguard Ryan Fairclough, 23, claimed his third victory, just six seconds short of the event record

Hundreds of people lined the course to cheer on competitors sporting a range of festive outfits

People in the Isle of Man are being urged to dress up like Father Christmas and run around the island's capital to raise money for charity.

Last year about 130 people took part in the 1 mile (1.6km) Santa dash around the streets of Douglas, with lifeguard Ryan Fairclough finishing first.

Competitors will run a lap of Douglas town centre on Wednesday 18 December.

Organiser John Lindon said: "It is a fantastic spectacle and we would encourage everyone to take part."

This year's route will be slightly altered due to ongoing road works around Loch Promenade, with runners diverted off Victoria Street and in to Villiers Square.

Last year's event raised around £14,000 for a variety of local charities, Mr Lindon said.
