Shooter Tim Kneale, who will represent GB at the Olympics in Rio later this year, has been named the Isle of Man's Sportsman of the Year for 2015.

The current world record holder qualified for the team in September after winning silver at the Shotgun World Championships in Italy.

Catherine Reid was named Sportswomen of the Year after winning bronze in the Junior World Athletics Championships.

The awards were presented at a ceremony in Douglas on Thursday.

Minister Tim Crookall said: "These awards recognise the time, effort and personal sacrifice made by the athletes, their families, their coaches and the vast army of volunteers who bring sporting success to the island."

All nominees for the sport awards must be Manx-born or have resided on the island for at least two years.

In other categories, cyclist Mark Cavendish, won the Isle of Man Ambassador Award, while swimmer Ben Grainger picked up his second successive Disability Sportsperson of the Year trophy.

Coach of the Year was won by Commonwealth Youth Games boxing coach John Cain, who oversaw the Isle of Man's first medal for boxing at the 2015 games in Samoa.
