Ex-soldier on trek 'inundated' with offers of Manx support

A former solider trekking around the coast of parts of the British Isles has been "inundated" with offers of support from people on the Isle of Man.

Daniel McNeil has raised almost £25,000 for an armed forces charity which supported him when he became depressed after leaving the Army.

The 27-year-old has been walking for two-and-a-half years and has covered about 8,400 miles (13,000km).

He said the support from the Soldiers', Sailors' and Airmen's Families Association (SSAFA) helped him turn his life around and he wanted to "give back" to help other veterans who may be struggling.

The ex-serviceman is set to finish his journey next month in Scotland, which is where he began his walk in 2021.
