People are being urged to take part in a festive-themed race through the Isle of Man's capital.

The annual Santa Dash is scheduled to start on Prospect Hill at 12:30 GMT on 20 December.

Organised by the Isle of Man Bank, the run around the 1 mile (1.6km) route attracts hundreds of entries each year.

The bank's Stuart Chivers said the event would bring "some seasonal fun to the streets of Douglas while also supporting important local charities".

"We hope for a large turnout and, as always, look forward to seeing how creative our dashers will be with their Christmas themed outfits," he added.

The event, which is in its 22nd year, is free to enter but competitors are encouraged to raise sponsorship for local causes.

The bank itself had pledged to donate £3,000 to local charities chosen by its employees, which include the Manx Wildlife Trust, Isle of Man Foodbank and Isle Listen.
