People interested Manx cultural events have been encouraged to get involved by signing up to volunteer.

Culture Vannin supports several festivals throughout the year, including the Celtic gathering Yn Chruinnaght each July.

The cultural organisation said the running of the events was dependent on the support of volunteers to continue.

Festivals supported include traditional music and dance, the Manx language and slam poetry and literature.

Culture Vannin director Breesha Maddrell called for people to "think about joining an organising committee or just volunteer during the event as part of the operational team".

"Festivals are great opportunities to have fun, make new friends, and to place yourself at the heart of our vibrant cultural life," she said.

The events "make the Island a better place to live, work and visit" and created a "great 'extended family' of which to become part", she added.
