Call for 12p rise in Jersey's minimum wage from April

The States of Jersey is being asked to put the island's minimum wage up by 12p an hour, bringing it to £6.32 an hour.

The new rate is being recommended to the States by the independent Employment Forum.

The social security minister was also asking politicians to increase the minimum pay for trainees from £4.65 to £4.74 per hour.

The minimum wage will be debated in the States in February with any changes coming into effect in April.
