Five people were rescued from their sinking boat off Jersey's east coast.

A 42ft (13m) motorboat hit a submerged object near Les Ecrehous, and called for help after making it to within a mile of Gorey harbour.

The St Catherine's inshore lifeboat was launched and made it to the scene within 15 minutes of the call on Sunday evening.

It helped pump out water but because of the high tide the damaged boat had to be grounded at Long Beach.

Two lifeboat crew boarded the motorboat and helped bringing the motorboat onto the beach.
