Jersey stabbings: Police travel to Poland

Hundreds of people attended a mass on Thursday in memory of the victims

Police officers investigating the murders of six people in St Helier are going to Poland to interview the friends and family of those who died.

Izabela Rzeszowska, her children Kinga and Kacper and her father Marek Garstki died in the attack.

Marta Dominika De La Haye, 34, and her five-year-old daughter Julia Frances also died.

Jersey Police will be sending four Polish-speaking family liaison officers to get information about the victims.

The group going to Poland will be made up of two officers from Jersey, one from the Devon and Cornwall Police and one from London's Metropolitan Police.

Det Supt Stewart Gull, from the States of Jersey Police, said it was part of their aim of piecing together the events that led up to the killings in Victoria Crescent.

A 30-year-old man, named locally as Damian Rzeszowski, has been arrested in connection with the murder inquiry and is still in hospital recovering from injuries.

The police are waiting to hear when he can be released and taken into custody for questioning.

Post-mortem examinations carried out on all six victims have confirmed they all died from stab wounds, police said.

Investigations are still going on at the scene.
