The record for the warmest temperature in October in Jersey could be broken this weekend.

The Jersey Meteorological Department said the island was in a very warm south easterly flow from the Continent.

Temperatures were expected to reach 25 degrees Celsius (77F) and higher from the middle of the week.

The Met Department said as the weather was set to be fair for the week, the warmest temperature record for early October could be broken at the weekend.

Sharon Merrien from the Jersey Met Department said: "The record for the end of September at Maison St Louis in town is 28.5 degrees for 27 September set back in 1895, which won't be broken tomorrow.

"But for early October the record stands at 24.4 back in 1959 and this record could be broken as the very warm weather is expected to persist into the weekend."
