Jersey survey assesses 4,000 listed buildings

All sites of special interest and local interest are to be merged into a single list

A survey of Jersey's historical buildings should make grading the 4,000 plus properties simpler, according to planning authorities.

The first phase of the survey, which has looked at all sites of special interest and buildings of local interest, is nearly complete.

The two categories of listed buildings are now being merged into one list.

Jersey Heritage is carrying out the survey to find out which need to stay on the new list.

The team will then look at other old structures, with a view to getting them protected.

Roger Hills, from the trust, said the single list should make things simpler for historians and homeowners.
