Burglar Carl Murphy jailed for spate of break-ins in Jersey

A 47-year-old man from Liverpool has been jailed for three years for a spate of break-ins in Jersey.
Carl James Murphy was found guilty of three counts of burglary, one of break and entry and a drugs charge at Jersey's Royal Court.
The court was told Murphy had targeted older islanders, aged in their 70s.
A second man, 44 year-old Lee Anderson, also from the UK, was sentenced to 150 hours community service for receiving stolen goods and possessing cannabis.
Both arrests were the result of Operation Hornet, Jersey Police's efforts to tackle burglary in the island.
Sgt Karl Chapman said: "The sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime and the devastating effect it can have on people's lives and should serve as a warning to others who are considering committing burglary to think twice.
"The States of Jersey Police are committed to tackling break and entry offences in the island and have this year launched Operation Hornet with the intention of bringing thieves before the court."
