Seven people have been arrested in Jersey after police raided nine properties earlier.

Police were investigating a theft, four drugs offences and four crimes relating to indecent images of children.

Det Ch Insp Alison Fossey said Jersey Police targeted the suspects in one morning on Thursday as part of a "crime impact day".

She said all of the islands prolific offenders would be getting a visit from police officers.

She said other offenders identified through forensic work would also be targeted.

Ms Fossey said: "One of our biggest successes this year has been the launch of Operation Hornet, the force's crackdown on burglary.

"So far we have seen a large reduction in the number of break-ins compared with the same period last year.

"But half of these properties were still left insecure and we want to take this opportunity to remind people to lock up and not make life easy for thieves."
