Man to run six marathons in six days for orangutans

David Faulkner is running six marathons to raise money for orangutans
A man is running from Worcester to Poole, then sailing to Jersey, to raise money for endangered orangutans.
David Faulkner will run six marathons in six days.
On Saturday he ran from Worcester to Cheltenham and to Swindon on Sunday. He will arrive at the Durrell Wildlife Park in Jersey on Friday.
He said he hoped to raise £2,012, which he would share between Durrell and the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Borneo.
Habitat destroyed
Mr Faulkner said he had been inspired by comedian Eddie Izzard's 43 marathons in 51 days and was motivated by the plight of the orangutans.
He said: "Their habitat is being destroyed daily through illegal logging and swathes of it being cleared for plantations to fuel the massive worldwide palm oil consumption."
Gordon Hunt, Head of Mammals at Durrell, said: "We can only hope that with the support of people like David and many others, we can save this species from extinction."
The rest of the route takes Mr Faulkner through Charlton St Peter, Salisbury, and Brockenhurst's Orangutan Appeal UK head office.
He then continues to Poole and travels to Jersey by ferry leaving him a final six miles to run from the Harbour to the orangutan enclosure at Durrell on Friday.
