Jersey magistrate Ian Christmas sentenced in fraud case

The sentencing of a Jersey magistrate who was found guilty of fraud has begun in the Royal Court.
Ian Christmas was convicted, along with three other men, of defrauding investors and leading them to believe they were investing in property abroad.
Mr Christmas was convicted of defrauding one person of £100,000 - the money was used to pay off debts.
The verdicts were reached in July after a two-month trial and sentencing is expected to take two days.
Jersey residents Russell Foot, James Cameron and John Lewis, along with Mr Christmas, originally faced 27 charges relating to property purchase in the United States.
A disciplinary investigation into Mr Christmas's conduct is continuing.
