Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man have agreed to more cooperation and communication.
The chief ministers of the three crown dependencies had their first formal meeting since each island held its general elections.
Deputy Peter Harwood, Senator Ian Gorst and Alan Bell met at Gatwick Airport on Thursday.
They discussed the current economic situation, public sector reforms for each island and overseas aid.
Deputy Peter Harwood, Guernsey's Chief Minister, said: "Guernsey, Jersey, and the Isle of Man, whilst separate and indeed competing jurisdictions in certain areas, face common challenges where working together benefits taxpayers in all of our islands."
Senator Ian Gorst, Jersey's Chief Minister, said: "Since the elections, there has been a real enthusiasm to engage with each other and work together in areas that are of benefit to each island.
"I'm pleased that this has now been formalised with our first official meeting."
The next meeting will be held in the new year.
