Jersey Airport announces plans for new hangar

An agreement aimed at constructing a new corporate aircraft hangar at Jersey airport has been reached.
A spokesman for Jersey Airport said UK-based company Hangar8 intended to build a 55,000 sq ft (5,000 sq m) facility, subject to planning permission.
They said plans would be submitted to the States in early 2013, and that the hangar would be built on the site of the current air cargo centre.
Jersey Airport will also submit a plan in 2012 for a new cargo centre.
Doug Bannister, group chief executive for Ports of Jersey, said: "There is sufficient demand to create incremental growth in the private jet market."
He added: "We believe we can... explore new commercial opportunities, grow the sector and improve the level of facilities we can offer the private jet market."
Jersey Airport said it hoped to have demolished its cargo facility and built its replacement by the end of 2013.
This, it said, would allow Hangar8 to construct the new hangar during 2014.
