A Channel Islands financial services ombudsman scheme should be operational by early 2014, says Jersey's economic development minister.

Senator Alan Maclean said it is an area where it is "highly beneficial" for Jersey and Guernsey to work together.

The ombudsman will oversee and consider complaints about financial services.

He said the governments in both islands consulted with the finance industries and a working party was set up to look at funding models for the scheme.
