A painting by a renowned Jersey stained-glass artist will go on display this week, after a long restoration process.

The work by Henry Bosdet of Jesus before his crucifixion was found, soiled and damged, in storage in St Saviour's church in Sunbury on Thames.

The Glass Rainbow Trust raised more than £7,000 to have it restored.

Bosdet is best-known for stained glass windows which adorn churches throughout the Island and across Great Britain.

The painting, completed in 1837, has been gifted by St Saviour's Church to the Jersey Heritage Trust and Glass Rainbow Trust.

The trust hope the painting will go on public display and form the centre piece of a future exhibition of Henry Thomas Bosdet's works.

It will be unveiled on Wednesday at the town church.
