Jersey Water told to clear up waste dumped in field

Jersey Water has been told to clear a St Lawrence field and return the site to nature after dumping waste on the site.
The waste material is a by-product of water treatment at a site at Handois, La Rue Ville es Gazeaux.
The company applied for retrospective permission to dump the waste already there and approval to dump more.
But planning minister, Deputy Robert Duhamel, refused the move based on its possible environmental impact.
The waste is sediment which is said to contain a variety of chemicals including zinc, copper and aluminium.
The company has been asked to remove the waste within three months and landscape the area within six.
