A recycling "bring bank" has opened in the grounds of the St Peter Community Centre in Jersey in a bid to increase recycling in the parish.

It is the island's 19th bring bank - mini recycling centres aimed at making household recycling convenient.

The facility at the rear of the car park will allow cardboard, paper, metal packaging, plastic bottles and batteries to be recycled.

Glass was not included as the parish offers household collections.

Emma Richardson, recycling manager for the States, said: "We are continually developing the network of recycling bring banks by trying to find new sites that are conveniently located on main routes.

"We hope that the new St Peter's recycling bring bank will be a welcome facility for the nearby community and also provide a resource to support the parish nursery and school raise awareness of the importance of recycling."
