An education spokeswoman said the system should be back up by Monday or Tuesday

The computer network connecting all Jersey's schools to each other and the internet has gone down.

The mixed wired and wireless network allows teachers to access online learning tools, take the register and is used by administration staff.

The Education Department says it hopes it will be up and running next week.

A spokeswoman for the department said: "It isn't the end of the world as they still have lots of books in all the schools."

She said they would also be able to take the register on paper.

The outage on Friday affected all primary and secondary schools and means teachers and pupils will not be able to access emails outside of school.
