Vets feared the seal might die if left to herself

An injured and underweight seal pup has been rescued after being spotted on a beach in Jersey.

Vets said the pup, which was found at St Ouen, had bite wounds to her back and risked death if left unattended.

British Divers Marine Life Rescue took her to New Era Veterinary Hospital, who will send the animal to a specialist RSPCA rescue centre in the UK.

Vet Peter Haworth said: "The bite marks showed she had been in some recent difficulty."
