Condor Ferries says bad weather is behind the decision

Condor Ferries has cancelled its high-speed catamaran service between the UK and the Channel Islands on Friday amid an "unpredictable weather forecast".

Earlier this week, the operator encouraged passengers to sail on Thursday.

It has now made the decision to cancel its Poole-Guernsey-Jersey-Guernsey-Poole service on Friday, Condor said.

Its return high-speed sailings between St Malo and Jersey and St Malo and Guernsey are currently going ahead.

Meanwhile, sailings on the "conventional ferry" were "under review due to an evolving picture", the operator said.

Some new sailings have been added for Thursday to encourage passengers to travel earlier.

The company said it had scheduled a new Liberation return sailing to Guernsey and Jersey, which will operate from Poole, and new Voyager round trip sailings from St Malo to Jersey and from St Malo to Guernsey for Thursday.

Elwyn Dop, Condor's operations director, said the weather forecast for Friday looked "outside of our safe operating limits".

Condor Ferries said services over the weekend may also be affected.
