A large freight vessel has been carrying out berthing trials in Jersey on Saturday.

The DFDS Finlandia Seaways has been testing the "operational parameters of Elizabeth Harbour", Ports of Jersey (POJ) said.

Photos of the trial show the vessel in St Helier, It was commissioned by the government in an aim to make the island's supply links more resilient.

POJ said the trial would affect sailings by Condor Ferries.

"We are grateful to them for their co-operation and apologise to everyone who is affected by the disruption," it said.

Condor Ferries announced it had cancelled its day trip service from Jersey to St Malo on Saturday, and its return services from Portsmouth to Jersey and Guernsey to Jersey will be delayed.
