World record attempt by Jersey Christmas tree maze

More than 800 recycled Christmas trees have been lit up at a Jersey attraction in an attempt to break a world record.
The Christmas tree maze at Howard Davis Park was created by Bino Rodrigues.
He said the maze had more than 797 trees which was the current record that was set in 2019 in Mason County, US, and he was waiting for official Guinness World Record adjudication.
Mr Rodrigues said "the experience just got bigger than what it was planned to be".
He said: "We've been planning this for several months and one night myself and my team were stuck inside and one of the production team said you know you're nearly at a world record.
"The world record was set in the USA for 797... and we were like we're pretty close here, we're very close.
"What we did was reach out to a couple of businesses who import Christmas trees and just said whatever stock you have left, we'll take, so it just added a little bit more to what we already had."
Some of the trees were originally bought from a farm in the UK.
They were considered unsuitable for market and were due to be shredded, but Mr Rodrigues said they were still "all beautiful trees".
He said: "A Christmas tree grows a foot every year, so if you've got a 7ft tree that took seven years to grow.
"So we saved that tree... and the Jersey public will help us support saving these trees, everyone gets to feel good about doing something for the trees."
After the maze, the majority of the trees will be shredded and will go on flowerbeds at Howard Davis Park and some will be donated to a local goat farm.
