India-Sri Lanka ferry reopens for first time in almost 30 years

It has only just started running but already the chief minister of India's Tamil Nadu state has called for a new ferry service to Sri Lanka to be suspended.

This is because of how ethnic Tamils on the island nation are treated.

The passenger ship set off from the south Indian port of Tuticorin and arrived at Colombo.

The route has just resumed after being suspended for almost 30 years because of Sri Lanka's civil war in the north.
