Sri Lanka: Rajapaksa defends military's conduct

The Sri Lankan President, Mahinda Rajapaksa, has defended the conduct of the military at the end of the country's long civil war and has rejected calls for it to be investigated.

He was speaking at a huge military parade to mark two years since the government's comprehensive defeat of the Tamil Tiger militant separatists.

A UN panel of experts recently accused both sides of war crimes during the last days of the conflict in 2009.
