US election: Can Republicans broaden their appeal?

Following Mitt Romney's defeat in the US presidential elections the Republican Party will be reflecting on what went wrong.

The US is facing a demographic shift and some critics within the party say the current electoral strategy is too narrowly focused on the shrinking White vote.

The party also performed poorly with the growing Hispanic electorate. In 30 years time one in three Americans will be Hispanic.
