New York governor defiant after Salman Rushdie attack
New York State governor Kathy Hochul has condemned the attack on the author, Salman Rushdie.
Speaking at the Chautauqua Institution, where Mr Rushdie was attacked on Friday, Hochul said "a man with a knife cannot silence a man with a pen".
Mr Rushdie, 75, sustained life-changing injuries after being stabbed on stage.
