US surgeon general: Loneliness as lethal as smoking

US surgeon general Vivek Murthy told the BBC that America faces an ‘epidemic of loneliness’ that is as treacherous to physical health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. He says lack of social connection should be treated as gravely as obesity or tobacco usage.
