Biden ushered to safety after car crashes into motorcade
Secret Service agents ushered US President Joe Biden to safety after a drunk driver crashed into a parked SUV that was part of his motorcade on Sunday night in Wilmington, Delaware.
The president and First Lady Jill Biden were leaving his campaign headquarters after a meal with members of his re-election team.
"There was no protective interest associated with this event and the president's motorcade departed without incident," Secret Service spokesperson special agent Steve Kopek said in a statement.
The incident did not result in any injuries. The driver, 46-year-old James Cooper, has been arrested by police on charges of inattentive driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.
