Trump-Biden TV duels a 'shocker', says debate chairman

Joe Biden and Donald Trump have agreed to participate in two televised presidential debates in June and September.

Frank Fahrenkopf, chairman of the Commission on Presidential Debates, says the news was a "shocker", not least because it's unusual to hold debates before candidates become their party's nominee.

Since 1988, the commission has scheduled timings and it had already set dates and locations for three live TV forums in the autumn. But it says it has been frozen out by the campaigns.
