One Direction have announced they will be releasing a vinyl version of their single Midnight Memories for Record Store Day.

As well as including previously unseen pictures, the release will feature a live version of Rock Me from the band's documentary One Direction: This Is Us.

A limited number of copies of the single will be available.

Other acts taking part in Record Store Day, which is on 19 April, include The Sex Pistols and Jake Bugg.

Suede, Green Day and LCD Soundsystem are also among those to announce releases.

One Direction's third album, Midnight Memories, became the best-selling record of 2013 in the UK, despite only being released in November.

Vinyl has seen a recent surge in sales in the UK

Record Store Day, the annual celebration of independent record shops, is credited with driving a recent surge in vinyl sales.

In 2013, it generated £2 million and saw Biffy Clyro, Tom Odell and Chvrches release limited edition albums.

Last year, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) announced vinyl records had achieved their highest sales figures for more than a decade.

But vinyl sales still only account for 0.7% of all albums sold, a small amount compared to downloads and CDs.

"Record Store Day has been incredibly important as a catalyst for the resurgence of vinyl," said Kim Bayley, who organises the event.

She added: "The fact that indie record shops managed to sell £2m worth of vinyl in one day puts paid to the idea that either vinyl or record stores themselves are on the way out."
