Khloe Kardashian's ex-husband Lamar Odom found unconscious at Nevada brothel

Khloe Kardashian's ex-husband and two-time NBA champion Lamar Odom has been found unconscious at a brothel in the US state of Nevada.

Police say he suffered a "medical emergency" at the Love Ranch in Crystal outside Las Vegas.

Nye County Sheriff's Office said the 35-year-old couldn't be airlifted to hospital because he's too tall at 6' 10" (2.08m).

He and Khloe agreed to divorce in 2013 after four years of marriage.

The sheriff's office said an investigation had started but wouldn't give any more details about Lamar Odom's condition or what had caused the emergency.

He's being treated at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.

Celebrity website TMZ, external reported that Odom had had been at the legal brothel for days and a woman there had found him unconscious in his VIP suite.

Khloe Kardashian is the younger sister of Kim Kardashian and co-hosted the second series of The X Factor USA in 2012.

The two married in 2009 in a large ceremony, that was filmed for the E! network, following an engagement that was also shot for reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

The couple also had their own spin-off show, Khloe & Lamar, which aired for two seasons between 2011 and 2012.

The pair's divorce was finalised in July of this year.

In 2013 after the start of his divorce he checked himself into rehab over alcohol and drug abuse after being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

The star had admitted to struggling with drug use in the past.

In 2001, while playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, he was suspended twice for drug violations.

Odom played for 14 seasons in the NBA and won the 2009 and 2010 championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.

In 2011, he won the NBA's sixth man of the year Award, given to the most valuable player coming on as substitute.

In 2006, the player's six-month-old son Jayden died from sudden infant death syndrome while sleeping in his cot in New York.

He has a daughter, Destiny, and a son Lamar Jr, from a previous relationship.
