Ellie Goulding criticises Glastonbury line-ups over lack of female acts

Ellie Goulding has criticised music festivals for not booking more female artists.

She also claims sexism is a problem across the whole industry and has had a go at some male stars for writing disrespectful song lyrics.

"I got annoyed when Glastonbury had so many men on the line-up," the singer told Cosmopolitan.

"I get annoyed when men write degrading songs about women, but women are starting to speak out."

Several of the UK's biggest music festivals came under fire last year for not featuring enough female acts.

Last year Florence + the Machine stepped in to replace the Foo Fighters to headline Glastonbury, but they were only the second act with a woman to top the bill at a major UK festival in 2015.

Florence Welch was in fact the first British woman this century to headline the Pyramid stage.

Before that you had to go back to 1999 when Skunk Anansie closed the festival.

But Ellie Goulding, who has performed at Glasto twice before, said she was pleased to see Florence Welch step in for the American rock band.

"Things are changing, you know? And I love it."
