Ellie Goulding has talked for the first time about her accident in Norway.

The singer posted a photo of her all-terrain vehicle sinking into a lake last month after the ice cracked.

She told the Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw that they were told it was safe to travel on.

"The thing that we were in collapsed over a lake. We were told it was safe but it clearly wasn't. We were in safe hands but it was pretty scary," she said.

"I was rescued within five minutes. But when the person went back to get everyone else, it'd nearly entirely sunk. It was five metres down. But I'm fine."

The picture shows the vehicle she was travelling in with tour photographer Conor McDonnell half-submerged in the frozen water.

Conor also shared the image, which shows the vehicle and a starry sky, and said they were close to disaster.

Ellie says they just wanted to see a bit more of Norway.

"We decided we wanted to go out exploring," she said. "It was like -30C and I'd never been out in anything like it. We were out on a mountain."
