In his explanation, Justin explained how "people won't even say 'hi' to me, or recognise me as a human" anymore and that he is trying to "keep his sanity".

"I realise people will be disappointed but I don't owe anybody a picture.

"And people who say 'but I bought your album' know that you got what you paid for, AN album!

Good luck getting one of these from now on

"It doesn't say in the fine print whenever you see me you also get a photo."

As the singer predicted, fans started posting about how they were upset with what he's said.

One fan tweeted including a video of Justin in a park., external

One wrote: "Your fans are the reason you are as successful as you are. The least you could do is take pictures with them."

Bieber replied: "Years ago it was impossible to even take a picture at any time not everyone was accessible to a camera, now everyone has a camera phone.

"I love the fact that I am able to make people happy but c'mon if you truly were in my position you would understand how tiring it is."

There has been a mixed response to Justin saying he won't take pictures with fans

The message comes after Biebs cancelled meet-and-greets during a trip to Europe because he said they left him feeling "mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression".

He also recently told fans that if he's not in the mood for a picture then "screaming louder" might not be the best way to get a selfie.

'I applaud Justin'

Will.i.am spoke about Justin's comments on the Radio 1 Breakfast show

He's not alone. Speaking to the Radio 1 Breakfast show with Nick Grimshaw, will.i.am said: "A lot of the time no-one that's famous speaks up about it but we talk and complain about it when we're with each other.

"God forbid that person is having a bad day.

"I applaud Justin Bieber for this statement, he should have corralled everyone so that he's not singled out or seem pompous or stuck up.

"But I have to agree a lot of us feel that way but don't feel it's appropriate because it's a part of success."
