James Bond 25: Who is in the running to play 007?
- Published
The next instalment of the James Bond franchise will be released in 2019.
The 25th film in the series will be in cinemas in the US on 8 November, with a slightly earlier release date in the UK and the rest of the world.
But it's not yet clear if Daniel Craig will be returning in the lead role for a fifth time.
With producers saying the cast will be announced "at a later date", who is in the running to play 007?
Daniel Craig
It would be a bit naive to rule out the man who has been playing the role since 2006, first appearing as Bond in Casino Royale.
Last year Callum McDougall, the executive producer of the Bond film franchise, told the BBC Craig was "absolutely the first choice".
"We would love Daniel to return as Bond."
Idris Elba
The Luther actor has been central to Bond rumours for a while now.
Even Kanye wants him to do it, but Elba has said he is "too old" to play the world's most famous spy.
Tom Hardy
He's no stranger to a big screen action film, having appeared in Mad Max: Fury Road and Dunkirk.
So far he's refused to comment on whether he would like to take over from Daniel Craig, but he did recently chase a motorbike thief through south London to make a citizen's arrest. If that doesn't get you at least an audition, what will?
Gillian Anderson

The X Files star is one of the only rumoured names to fully put her name in the ring.
With Doctor Who recently unveiling its first female lead, why couldn't Bond be next?
Vicky McClure
The actress, best-known as one of the stars on Line of Duty, said it would be "genius" for her to be cast as the first female 007.
She "lapped up" being linked to the role and told The Sun, external: "This rumour is a very funny thing to have happened.
"A Nottingham girl playing Bond is never going to happen in a million years.
"But it would be genius if it did, wouldn't it?"
Aidan Turner
You'll probably recognise him best from Poldark.
The 33-year-old took the lead in Bond odds back in August but refused to comment on the rumours at MCM Expo last May.
What else do we know about Bond 25?
Not much.
It'll be written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who worked on Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre and will be produced by Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
