A cross between a donkey and a zebra, or ‘zonkey’, has been born at Taigan zoo park in the Crimea in eastern Europe. The animal was born on 5 August, 2014.

There are many different names for a cross between a donkey and a zebra including 'zonkey' and 'zebroid'.

The ‘zonkey’ has been named Telegraph by the keepers at the zoo.

Telegraph has been playing with his mother, a zebra. There have been other cross breeds of this type in the past but it is not common for the mother to be a zebra.

Telegraph’s head and body look more like that of a donkey as they are brown. The features he has got from his mother can be seen in his stripy legs.

The director of the zoo, Oleg Zubkov, says "Telegraph is very popular with visitors" who can watch him romping around with his mother.
