The Supreme Cat Show, which is one of the largest cat competitions in Europe, has taken place in Birmingham.

More than 800 cats took part in what's described as the feline equivalent of crufts.

The event began more than 30 years ago and features categories including Persian, Semi-Longhair, British, Oriental and Siamese.

Sphinx cat Dotty was entered for the first time this year, where she was placed second. Her owners said Dotty likes to eat a lot and takes a lot of cleaning up after.

This cute kitty is called Columbarius and is having it's hair combed before being judged.

Owner Kirsty, who was at the event showing her Persian cat, said grooming the long-haired cat to get him show-ready was a lot of work and takes 20-30 minutes a day.

Red exotic male Persian cat, Flame, gets taken to shows around the UK every few weeks by his owners.
