VJ Day 2025: 'My great grandfather won the Victoria Cross'

The 15th August 2025 is the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day, or VJ Day.

It marked the end of the Second World War after Japan, which was allied to Nazi Germany, surrendered to the opposing forces known as the Allies.

It wasn't just nations like Great Britain, the United States and the Soviet Union that helped win the war.

The war in the far East was fought by soldiers from all over the British Empire at the time. Many were from South Asia.

Emma-Louise went to meet Llewyn, Emmy and their granddad Charanjit.

Their great grandfather captain Gian Singh VC played a crucial role in the British Indian army during his time in Burma.
