Storm Desmond: Animals rescued in the floods

A man holds his dog as he wades through the flooded streets in Carlisle. Lots of people are having to carry their pets out of the their homes to safety.
Rescue teams have been working hard to save animals from the floods in North West England.
The flood waters left many pets and farm animals stranded in homes and fields.
Here are pictures of some of them being rescued.

An endangered loggerhead sea turtle washed up on a beach in Ayrshire in Scotland. The turtle was rescued and is now being cared for at a sea life sanctuary.

The emergency services have helped rescue people and their pets using rubber dinghies to keep them dry.
