The Queen's Platinum Jubilee equestrian extravaganza

The Queen attended the first of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The event was called A Gallop Through History. The Queen was met with a standing ovation as she arrived in the castle arena at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Hollywood star Tom Cruise announced a performance by the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery.

The performance was 90-minutes long, the Queen was seen smiling and seemed to be really enjoying the event. She has some problems moving and has had to cancel a number of recent public appearances including the state opening of Parliament.

The display featured more than 500 horses and 1,000 performers who dedicated the show to the Queen for her 70 year-reign! This horse is part of the traditional display from the Royal Cavalry Oman, a show of horsemanship in which horses lie down on command.

The Queen is well known for her love of horses. She was seen clapping along to the performances.

These performers from Azerbaijan were part of the celebrations.

The show was made up of many different performances including this Bollywood dancing show.

Actress Helen Mirren who once played the Queen in a film performed as Queen Elizabeth I. The Queen and Queen Elizabeth I are linked through their common ancestor King Henry VII.

Opera singer Katherine Jenkins OBE also performed at the event.
